Tales of Orisa explores the characters of the Yoruba deities celebrated across Africa and the Diaspora, through live music and visuals.

Join us throughout the day for this unique event at the Hall:  

12.00 pm- Community Discussion exploring the history, stories and future of The University of Birmingham’s Danford Collection of West African Art and Artefacts. Hosted by The Ifa Yoruba Contemporary Arts Trust. The discussion will take place in the Stable Block Classroom and is free to attend, no booking required.

2.00pm- Tales of Orisa. A performance of live music and projected images from the Danford Collection - featuring Lekan Babalola's Sacred Funk Trio. The performance will take place in the Long Gallery and is included in the normal entrance fee for the Hall. Pre-book tickets here.

3.00pm- Tell It To The Bees:

A vision given by a Bee

A lad on the road to find his true love 

A Fox with a tale and a King bound by his beard. 

How might they become free?

A playful earthy performance woven with the old habit of telling the bees of all life’s precious moments. 

Music by Kate Luxmoore. Story by Pyn Stockman 

The performance will take place in the Long Gallery and is included in the normal entrance fee for the Hall. Pre-book tickets here.

Both performances takes place upstairs, there is no lift access inside the Hall.
