Come along to Sarehole Mill and join in with our May Day celebrations on Sunday 7th May.
The Ancient festival of Mayday was celebrated to mark the beginning of Summer and this year we will also be celebrating the coronation of King Charles III, which takes place the day before.
We have plenty going on throughout the day including.
- Wild Earth Movement will be hosting an eco-lantern activity, upcycling glass jars and giving them a new life before they end up in the recycling bin. Create a unique summer, May Day or coronation inspired lantern using different art techniques. All materials provided.
- Traditional and fun music throughout the day including folk-pop and sea shanties.
- Live folk music performances
- The Mill will be open all day to explore at your own pace
- Create your own May Day King or Queen crown using natural materials found in our Woodland Realm
- Join in with a group art project where we will be building a large Green Man portrait using leaves and foliage gathered from the woodland realm.
- Join in on a treasure hunt trail
- Garden games including splat the rat, pin the tail on the donkey, hoopla and cornhole.
- Traditional summer cakes and cream teas with strawberry jam and lashings of clotted cream
- Alcoholic drinks available including ciders and white wine
- Celebrate properly and treat yourself to a dance around the maypole.
Activities are drop-in sessions and will be happening throughout the day. Last entry to the Mill is 3.30pm. Pizza service is between 12pm & 3pm, pre-booking is advised. This is a ticketed event. Entry to the Mill and to take part in any activities you must purchase a ticket.
